Beef Bucks gives back for the Holidays

Col. Rick Miller, superintendent of the South Dakota Highway Patrol (far right) and Maj. Jason Husby (left) accepts Beef Bucks from members of Beef Bucks, Inc.  Thanks to this organization, the Highway Patrol has been able to donate Beef Bucks to law enforcement families who are in need due to illness or other hardships during the holiday season. Beef Bucks, Inc. is a non-profit organization established for the purpose of beef promotion and consumer education.  For more information on the Beef Bucks program, go to their website at or call 1-888-640-MEAT (6328).

The Coteau Hills Cattlemen of the Watertown (SD) and surrounding area, have been trying to come up with different ways to help the surrounding communities during the pandemic we’re in today.  With donations from Hamlin County Livestock Improvement Association and Pheasants Forever, Dry Lake (SD) Chapter #485, the  Coteau Hills Cattlemen were able to purchase Beef Bucks to be given away to consumers to purchase beef.  These specific $5 Beef Bucks were given away on the local radio stations by calling in to the stations.  By using the smaller increment of the Beef Buck, the Cattlemen are hoping to help more people purchase beef in these trying times.  This is seen as a win/win situation for both beef producers and consumers.  The Coteau Hills Cattlemen are also finalizing plans to distribute more Beef Bucks with the various food giveaways in the coming weeks and months to help those in need.

Highway Patrol Holiday Project

Major Jason Husby of the South Dakota Highway Patrol, accepts Beef Bucks from Beef Bucks President JoAnne Hillman, Vice President Eileen Moller, and board member Bob Montross at the 38th Annual South Dakota Law Enforcement Banquet held in Sioux Falls, SD on November 13, 2019.  This has been an ongoing project for the Highway Patrol and Beef Bucks, Inc.  For several years, the Highway Patrol has donated these items on behalf of Beef Bucks, Inc., to law enforcement families who are in need due to illness or other hardships during the holiday season.  Beef Bucks Inc. is a non-profit organization established for the purpose of beef promotion and education.
